AATSP Don Quijote Northern California chapter HISTORY-
Chapter antecedents go back to 1986 when an AATSP-NC regional conference was held at Chabot College on February 8, 1986, with Franciso Zermeño as the key person responsible.

Spring 2018 –No chapter meeting. Sandra García Sanborn requested a date in March at CSU Stanislaus, but no meeting was held. Sandra suggested an essay contest as a possible chapter activity. In Spring 2018 the chapter cut ties with its website provider and sought a new website.

Spring 2023 – Zoom Workshop, Social Justice and Language Teaching, May 22, 2023 - 4:00 - 5:00 PM, by Rebecca Pozzi, Tracy Quan, and Chelsea Escalante.
Fall 2023 - (with FLANC) Virtual and hybrid, Nov. 4, (FLANC Hybrid part is for 20 persons at a site in Campbell) The chapter will hold elections virtually and separate from the FLANC conference. ELECTION RESULTS: Francisco Zermeño elected as President-Elect and Christine Campbell re-elected as Treasurer.
Spring 2024 - (Exhibit participation, March 7-8, with CLTA in Monterey) Chapter session April 11, 2024, at CSU Monterey Bay and by Zoom, “Indigenous America in our Community and in the Spanish Classroom” joint presentation with Adolfo González (a native speaker of Zapotec).
Fall 2024 – (with FLANC) November 2, AATSP chapter session at Harker Middle School in San Jose. Chapter members met informally to discuss plans for spring and ideas for chapter programs.

Fall 2025 – Chapter elections online (two-year cycle) ELECTION RESULTS: Sandra Sanborn elected as President-Elect and Christine Campbell re-elected as Treasurer / The chapter met with FLANC at Chabot College in Hayward, Saturday, October 25. The in-person chapter session met during the FLANC conference lunch hour. President-elect Francisco Zermeño chaired a lively meeting that included recognition of chapter members who won awards at recent AATSP conferences, Liz Matchett, (Salamanca 2023) and Cristina Moon (Portland 2024) and a quiz on historical and cultural matters. Members who answered questions correctly got a prize! Spring plans for 2026 are for a parrillada at the home of Francisco Zermeño in Hayward with presentations by Michelle Moreno, Cristina Moon and América Salazar. Members who plan to attend the spring meeting include Michelle Moreno, Sandra García Sanborn, Liz Matchett, Anne Fountain, Tanya de Hoyos, Sarah Harmon, Cristina Moon, América Salazar, Raquel Rodríguez and Juan Pino Silva.
The Don Quijote Northern California chapter plans to co-host an Exhibit booth at the Feb. 28-March 1 CLTA conference in Sacramento with the Northern California AATF chapter.
